Ta-da!

As promised, here's my new hair!

How'd I decide, you may be wondering? Well Target has a sweet kiosk by the hair dyes that asks what kind of color you're looking for, natural color, skin hues, etc. Then based on your responses, picks out a suggested color. So I actually ended going one shade darker than my recommendation.

This one's called golden cappuccino, but it oddly turned out reddish in the light instead of golden. And oh yeah, I also took your suggestions into consideration ;)

Please excuse the myspace bathroom photo, that's the best lighted mirror in my house.

You know how texting/talking on a cell phone is illegal in California? What are the odds blogging's allowed....?

Blonde or Dark Brown?

It's getting to be that time again... where I get really tired with how I look. About once every few years, I'll chop my hair super short (comparatively speaking, short would be at my shoulders), give myself bangs, or dye my hair. Since I'm trying to grow it out right now, and I'm tired of my bangs.... guess what I want to do soon??

So I can't decide, I'll let you people choose for me.

Do I dye my hair dark brown, or go with blonde highlights? (Or, do I completely throw a curve ball, and go as a redhead - since my skin color is so light and my eyes are green anyways.)

Current hair color:

Me as a blonde:

And finally, dark brown:

So what should I do???

New signature

I've been trying to play around with the look of my blog. So I've created (well, I've at least attempted to) a signature.

I'm still not 100% sure how this works, so if anyone's mastered this yet, would someone point me in the right direction? How do I: a.) get rid of the photo border and b.) remove all the white around the text? I made a cropped image in PhotoShop that doesn't include the white, but it won't let me upload a PSD file.

Hmmm, what's a girl to do?!

*UPDATE* My temporary solution has been to merely change the background color from white to blue. So now, I just need to figure out how to not include a border on a selected photo!

Book club.... how about a book blog?

So I just had this interesting idea this morning. Whether or not people latch on to it will be a different story.

But everyone knows how much I love to read, right? I know some of you enjoy reading as well. So, why not start an international, online book club??! (This is so dorky, I know, but bear with me.)

Here's my idea: We get a group of people willing to read the same book each month, pick a date every month, and then we all blog our thoughts on the book, or comment on each other's book blog entries.

I sort of searched the Internet for something like this, but came up empty-handed. So if you already know of something like this, maybe you could guide me to those sites and we could latch on to an existing blog?

Or what the hell, enough people should (hint, hint) respond to this..... then we could start our own! (I'm a big dreamer, aren't I?)

UPDATE: I'm going to try and start a webring... if I can figure it out :) Spread the word!

You can still eat without sugar and starches

...It's just very hard. And testing my willpower.

In any event, here's a look at the menus I've been creating lately without bread, pasta, potatoes, fruit and sugar (though Splenda and sugar substitutes are allowed, or else how would I survive?!). See, they're not all just salads! And I have cheated once or twice, but for the most part I'm going strong.

Egg frittata with eggplant, squash, turkey lunch meat, broccoli and cheese

Tilapia in balsamic sauce with olives/onions, served with lentils and artichoke

Lowfat-crustless artichoke, asparagus and shrimp quiche (the difference is this is baked in the oven while the frittata is fried on the stove)

Chicken salad (minus the sandwich) “spread” with vegetable chips

Peanut butter/vanilla soy powder protein balls

Baked eggplant shells stuffed with mixed vegetables and ground turkey, topped with parmesan cheese

High-protein chili served with home-made baked “cheese crisps”

So I'm trying. And if you want any of the recipes, don't be shy!
