I didn't get to have too eventful of a night to ring in 2010 since I was busy cooking, finishing my basketball radio notes and packing for the weekend basketball trip to Northridge and Fullerton. But there was champagne, excuse me Italian sparkling wine, and watching of the ball dropping festivities in Times Square to be had.
(My square spinach, broccoli, shrimp and bacon quiche... It was pretty tasty!)
So here I am on the bus to the Sacramento airport once again, ready for my first flight of 2010. We have a game tomorrow and then another Monday night.
But other than the whole radio broadcasting thing, not many people get what I actually do for a living (gosh I sound old when it's said like that). I am a sports information director (SID for short) for three sports; basketball, baseball and soccer. And there is way more to it than you would think.
Which is why I'm pretty excited about this blog someone showed me on college basketball... Some guy has been trying out various jobs in college basketball, from coaching to media to I imagine sports medicine some day.
While this is a very nice portrayl of some of my duties during game time, it's really only just the tip of the iceberg. Hope these articles shed some more light on a part of the life of Monique :)
